We recognise the importance of strong and consistent health and safety performance in protecting our people, our assets and our business integrity.

In early 2008, we introduced formal performance standards. These outline the compulsory health and safety requirements for each area of our UK operations to ensure it complies with legislative requirements and industry best practice.

Our business areas are scored on their compliance with the standards via dedicated assurance managers.

Each assurance manager specialises in a specific topic or legislative area to ensure scoring is consistent. They will also help drive improvements, share best practice and promote the successes of individual business areas. This new process is still in its infancy but has already been praised as promoting good health and safety performance.
