Performance management
We want to create a culture where everyone understands how they contribute to the achievement of our business goals and are focused on doing the right things to improve our performance.To support this, we have introduced an updated performance management process for our senior leaders that includes clear standards for performance and behaviour. Since August 2007, 650 leaders from every area of our business have attended a one day workshop as an introduction to this new process and to help prepare them for the key role that they play in inspiring and motivating their team to improve performance. Last autumn, we also introduced 360 degree feedback for our most senior leaders. This means that feedback is collected from 'all around' - including from his or her peers, subordinates, supervisors and customers.
From now on, all our employees have performance objectives linked to business scorecards which flow through to our key business targets. Throughout the year, regular reviews will be carried out to assess our team and individual performance to ensure we are making progress as a business towards achieving these targets.
