Leadership development

We recognise the vital role that leaders play in creating a culture where everyone strives to do their best and achieve their full potential so that, as a business, we can achieve our vision of being a world class operator of utility infrastructure.

Between August and December 2007, 150 of our most senior leaders attended our 'Leading a High Performance Organisation' programme. This was designed to support them in understanding the key part they play in improving the performance of our business and to practise the skills and behaviours that will help them to be successful in this.

A particular focus of the programme was developing coaching skills. Through effective coaching our leaders can expand people’s capabilities, support and encourage them to develop and perform and make them feel valued. Coaching is a powerful means of creating lasting improvements in individual and group performance.

Over the coming year, our leadership development prgoramme will continue the theme of creating a high performance organisation and will also introduce coaching skills to a wider population of leaders across our business.
