Managing legionella

Legionnaires' disease is a lung infection (pneumonia) which can be transmitted via drinking water.

Our own laboratories are conducting a legionella inspection and testing programme for our UK water and wastewater business area. This will ensure that we can continue to meet the strict legal requirements around the management of legionella.

More than 180 legionella assessments have been carried out and an annual inspection and testing programme has been set up to enable the effective and efficient management of the risks from legionella.

The new programme was launched in our waer business in December 2007 and started in our wastewater business in April 2008.
