In January 2008 we installed ten new waste recycling 'hubs' at our headquarters in Lingley Mere, Warrington.
We currently recycle more than 50 per cent of our office waste by means of post-collection separation by a waste management contactor. The bins have been installed to promote separation of waste at source and to encourage employees to think about the waste they are producing and its disposal.
The new recycling hubs are made up of four bins:
- Plastics
- Aluminium cans
- Paper
- General / mixed waste
In the long-term we plan to install similar recycling hubs in our other office areas to complement the paper recycling bins already in place. We also want to ensure that the provision of recycling hubs is incorporated into office layout design whenever we are refurbishing an office.
Other office waste including cardboard, used toner cartridges, batteries, bulbs and stamps are recycled by our facilities management provider.
